Importance of a Biblical Perspective in Life & Learning

I love this book. You wouldn’t believe how much highlighting my copy has! It’s a good introduction to a Biblical worldview in education, throughout all the subjects. Shows the “other views” also. In our Resources & Recommendations Online Catalog on our Home Ed Why and How page . ~ Me

 Homeschooling for a Biblical Worldview

Every subject area teaches us something about the nature and character of God. In homeschooling, we must begin with proper Biblical presuppositions which will enable us to make sense of the world around us. As we piece together the mysteries of God’s law and creation, we will discover more and more about the God Who is. Seeing the world through God’s eyes is the essence of a Biblical worldview. Learn how to think Biblically, and transmit a Biblical worldview to your children.

Chapters include “Keeping an Eternal Perspective,” “The Importance of Reason,” “Multiculturalism,” and more.

Things fall into place in education when we think eternally. some things don’t matter anymore and others(like the Bible) begin to matter so much more. It puts it all in perspective.

  5. Julia says:

Educating from an eternal perspective creates a “big picture” view, and I think it brings more meaning to everything we learn about.

  6. Jyl Cundiff says:

We’re discovering that things seem to make more sense when educating from a eternal perspective

  7. Lori Morgan says:

When you keep an eternal perspective you don’t get caught of in man’s view of education and success. You have a sense of peace in your homeschool and you can focus on God’s will for your family and each child’s unique giftedness.

  8. Lisa says:

Within a Biblical worldview, education takes on a higher purpose and becomes more meaningful. No longer is the student being educated so that he can get a good job to become rich or make a name for himself. When using a Biblical worldview, a student learns how each subject fits within the teaching of the Bible and how to use that knowledge to bring glory to God.

  9. Becki L. says:

I’m still learning what all this means, so I’m reading the responses to learn.
Thank you to all the posters. Even your comments help me.

  10. Heather says:

    1) The richness of God’s truths draw us closer to Him and we see that everything in His creation has a purpose. That mountain is there for many reasons! (for example).

What, there is more to home school then teaching academics! just kidding. God is really shaping my view of what our school is called to be. Thanks Lisa for being a part of that.

  20. Amy W. says:

Education changes because the purpose is different- the purpose of a secular education is to gain knowledge sometimes just because other people say this is what you should know at this age, or to gain knowledge in order to score well on tests in order to “do well” in school and to lead to successful (read- high paying) career. The purpose of a Biblical education is to know God and to know and discover the world He created in order to serve Him better.

  25. Jennifer B. says:

That is quite a question :). We had planned to homeschool even before we were Christians. Our new life in Christ caused us to completely re-examine EVERYTHING that we had previously believed about education. It changes it all!

  29. Our priority is simple–we want our children to be disciples of Christ. Everything else, no matter how important it may be, is secondary.

  30. Vicki Neidhardt says:

The idea of keeping an eternal perspective makes so much sense. When I am reminded of their eternity it gives me a renewed vision of what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.

  33. Thanks to all who commented! I loved reading all your answers to the question. Developing a Biblical perspective of education makes all the difference in the world. I used to have our L.E.D. tagline as “Equipping our kids for the Real World: God’s Kingdom here on earth – and beyond!”

And the winner of the drawing is —

    RaShell S.
    Congratulations! I’ll be emailing you.
