I admire many of our founding fathers. Their belief in God shows in the documents that they wrote and the way they lived.

  7. My oldest would love these! He’s very interested in history. It’s hard to pick a favorite but right now my oldest has a particular interest in Davy Crockett, so I’ll say that.

  9. Karen S says:

Signed up and liked it all…. I like Thomas Jefferson but not 100% since all of man is flawed.

  10. Teresa B. says:

The courage these men and women had is very inspiring. I think George Washington would have to be my favorite. He stood strong in his faith and his beliefs.

  11. Heather says:

    1) I have to choose just one in American History??? I know they aren’t on the list in the CDs offered and I admire all of those listed. But, I have to say that I truly admire John and Abigail Adams (they were one flesh so I hope they count as one)! I loved learning more about them in “Those Who Love” by Irving Stone. They lead such purposeful lives.

    2,3,4,5… done.

I “liked” Raising Real Men a while ago! 🙂

  12. Becki L. says:

George Washington all the way. What an honorable man, full of courage and a great understanding of the Providence of God in his life.

I don’t know because I don’t remember much from school. But the great thing is that I will know the answer soon. I’m learning where to find real history and excited about studying.

Thomas Jefferson is a favorite. He was so patient and wise and had such vision.

  26. Amy W. says:

Sadly, I can’t think of who my favorite hero is. When I was going through school and reading through dry and boring textbooks I don’t think I really cared very much about it- just that I wanted to get through it, finish the work, and move on to something more “interesting”…if that makes sense. I DO NOT want my children to be the same way- which is why I am so glad that resources such as your website and resources, plus other great companies, are available to me.

  34. Lori says:

Ooops, forgot to mention my favorite hero. It’s so tough to choose, and will probably change, but tonight it is George Washington. My favorite “modern day” hero is my hubby!

  35. Thanks to all who commented!

There are several heroes from history that I want our children to know, and hopefully desire to imitate in their godly ways. I think the best way to encourage worthy heroes for children is to introduce them in an exciting way. Not too many textbooks give enough information (nor present it interestingly) to do this. Real living books, such as biographies and exciting histories, are the best way to do this. We’ve found several series that we enjoy (and can trust), as well as some individual gems. You can see some of our recommendations on our HisStory: Biographies Online Catalog page.

    And the winners are —

    Tiana and Karen S.!
    Congratulations! I’ll be emailing you.
