Tools of Learning
I don’t agree with a lot of Classical (Greek) education, but the Bluedorns approach is different. It is a Christian approach for teaching our children to learn and think – through a Biblical perspective. And I really like that it is a gentle approach in the early years. In our Resources & Recommendations Online Catalog on our General Home Ed Resources page. ~ Me
Teaching the Trivium
How can you give your children the tools they need to teach themselves? Long ago students were first taught how to learn. Today, students are taught an encyclopedia of subjects – trivia – but they are not taught the basic skills of learning: to discover, to reason, and to apply. They are not taught the Trivium.
Can you homeschool in a classical style without compromising your Christian principles? Because we are Christians, we do not want to pursue non-Christian goals. Classical Education must be sifted through the critical screen of the Scriptures to be transformed into a Biblical model.
Can you homeschool in a classical style without buckling under the burden? There is only so much time in the day. For every subject, and for every age, we have a workable plan – which leaves you free to breathe. You can continue to use other approaches to homeschooling within the framework of Classical Education.
Is homeschooling about renewing family vision? The family is at the heart of God’s plan for restoring Christian culture. Homeschooling is not alternative education. Homeschooling was here first. We want to restore Biblical order to education.

I went from wanting to teach secularly to learning how to teach from a Biblical world view. It is amazing where God leads you!
Our homeschooling has changed as I accepted my kids for what they are and could see how they each need special consideration. Also, I have made sure I worked on my leadership skills.

This book looks good coming from a biblical perspective. It changes a bit each year, but the change is on fast forward this past couple of months as we are really looking at why we home educate. Your seminar was a big part of this shift and I am studying the Principle Approach now. ‘School’ is getting more exciting all the time.
We are learning to use PA so that every subject we teach is Biblically based
1) My eyes have been opened to so many truths about God that I didn’t know before learning how to apply Bible Principles in every subject.
2,3,4,5… done.
I was a public school teacher and the Lord has had to do a major overhaul in my thoughts as He has guided our family in how we educate our children.

I have gone from believing that school should be just like Public school to believing that school should be natural and God-led in learning. I believe in having a more relaxed school approach and believe that God should be presented in every angle of education possible. I believe Christian education is the most important and all other educational aspects fall into place as He sees fit.

I have not really started home education yet as our three boys are all under 3, but my thoughts on education have been changing over the years and I am so excited to learn from the families who have gone before me in giving their children a truly Biblical education!
