{"id":197,"date":"2008-11-07T08:16:12","date_gmt":"2008-11-07T14:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.me-and-my-house.org\/blog-fromme\/2008\/11\/07\/simple-snack-friday-food\/"},"modified":"2016-03-26T18:36:22","modified_gmt":"2016-03-27T00:36:22","slug":"simple-snack-friday-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frommeandmyhouse.com\/blog-fromme\/simple-snack-friday-food\/","title":{"rendered":"Simple Snack &#8211; Friday Food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.me-and-my-house.org\/blog-fromme\/category\/nutrition\/recipes\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"fridayfood2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.me-and-my-house.org\/blog-fromme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/fridayfood2.jpg\" alt=\"fridayfood2.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>It&#8217;s been a busy week, so I&#8217;ll just give you a VERY SIMPLE Snack Recipe this week &#8211; but so YUMMY! and <a href=\"http:\/\/frommeandmyhouse.com\/gfy\" target=\"_blank\">Good for You-Naturally!<\/a>\u2122<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: navy;\"><strong>Apple Wedges and Almond Butter<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>My dc LOVE this, (and me too,) &#8211; and even dipping the apples (or other fruits or veggies) into non-homemade, organic, nut only butters works &#8211; peanut, cashew, almond, or sesame could be used.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: navy;\"><strong>Almond Butter:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Fit <a href=\"http:\/\/frommeandmyhouse.com\/gfy\/downloads\/champion-juicer-heavy-duty\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: blue;\"><strong>Champion Juicer<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with blank for &#8220;homogenizing&#8221; foods (rather than juicing). Turn on and pour in <span style=\"color: navy;\"><strong>Raw Almonds<\/strong><\/span>. Push through with food pusher. Feed slowly for a creamy nut butter, faster for chunky.<\/p>\n<p>If butter is too dry, more like almond meal, sitr in just a bit of <strong><span style=\"color: navy;\">olive oil<\/span><\/strong>, or put through Champion again with just a bit of olive oil. You can also make nut butters in a blender or food processor if you don&#8217;t have a Champion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tip<\/strong>: The natural oil in your almonds will flow better, making a creamier butter, if your almonds are a bit warm, not cold from the fridge. I usually warm mine up just a bit on the dehydrator, set at 110\u00b0. You don&#8217;t want to heat them higher, or you will destroy the enzymes.<\/p>\n<p>Slice <span style=\"color: navy;\"><strong>Apples, or other fruits or veggies<\/strong><\/span>, and dip\/scoop into the butter, and eat. <strong><span style=\"color: navy;\">Bananas<\/span><\/strong> aren&#8217;t the best scoopers since they are softer, but you can still put a hunk of nut butter on them for a great, yummy snack or lunch.<\/p>\n<p>You got a hankerin&#8217; for chocolate? It&#8217;s not exactly the same, but carob is a <a href=\"http:\/\/frommeandmyhouse.com\/gfy\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Good for You-Naturally!<\/strong><\/a>\u2122 substitute.
