Here’s a partial list of some of my favorite parenting type books over the years. Bound for Glory is perhaps my all time favorite. Family Driven Faith is one of those rare listings here that I haven't read yet. But it's on my bedstand waiting, and we love the author, and the reviews from those we trust are excellent! Teach Them Diligently, Withhold Not Correction, and Shepherding a Child's Heart were all excellent. The others have all been among my top recommendations in the past, but its been varying lengths of time since I’ve read them. I think I’d still give them a high recommendation, but don’t know for sure if they’d still be in my all-time TOP PICKS, as I don't remember them quite as well. You can read my book review (from when I read it) of Romancing Your Child’s Heart here.

Family Driven Faith By Voddie Baucham, Jr. / Good News & Crossway Family Driven Faith equips Christian parents with the tools they need to raise children biblically in a post-Christian, anti-family society. Voddie Baucham, who with his wife has overcome a multi-generational legacy of broken and dysfunctional homes, shows that God has not left us alone in raising godly children. He has given us timeless precepts and principles for multi-generational faithfulness, especially in Deuteronomy 6. God's simple command to Moses to teach the Word diligently to the children of Israel serves as the foundation of Family Driven Faith. |

Withhold Not Correction By Bruce Ray / P & R Publishing It is the biblical command in Proverbs 23:13 that the author of this straightforward book holds up as a guide for all parents who experience doubt and indecision in their roles as disciplinarians. The advice in this helpful guide, in contrast with modern psychology, points the way to strict parental discipline. The duties of a Christian parent are clearly outlined and always presented from a scriptural viewpoint. Each of the thirteen chapters in this practical book contains "review" and "response" questions, making it an ideal tool for either group study or personal development. |
