From the introduction to the Book of Remembrance Journal Pages:Greetings from Me and My House, In the Bible we see that God keeps a Book of Remembrance and also instructs others to do so. (Thankfully God’s Book of Remembrance does not include our forgiven sins.) We think keeping a Book of Remembrance of each of your studies is a worthwhile endeavor. By producing your own Journal of your studies you will grow in understanding of the topic and remember it better. The original forms in this resource, originally called Topical Study Journal, were based on documenting input and output of learning. They were made about half way into our home educational journey thus far. Since then we have learned much more about expanding education beyond just input and output, and utilize a much more reflective method of education, specifically based on Biblical meditation and reasoning, and relating everything we learn to our own lives – “Now that I know this, what should I do with it?” Our world of input has changed too, with the advent of the internet and CD’s - and now mp3's! Both the original and the new types of forms are now included in this resource now titled, Book of Remembrance Journal Pages, for topical study journaling. We have not removed any of the original pages, just expanded to include other ones. Use whichever ones work for your family. Some of the forms are for the Receiving and Recording processes, writing down the information you learn from the resources you use. Some of the forms are for documenting your Ruminating processes, as you Reason through the information Biblically – seeking God’s wisdom on the topic and finding Biblical principles at work, Reflect on it academically and historically – finding the seeds and the history of the topic, and Respond to it governmentally – making connections by seeing the relationships between the topic and other topics you have already studied and even your own life. Some of the forms are for you to Release your final conclusions and organize it all together. I think you’ll find a form to document every step of your study, but if you don’t I’ve included a blank one for whatever step you want to add. Also, don’t stop at just writing papers about the topic, Release your new thoughts by putting them to work in your life through projects and activities. Journaling for the Glory of God, Lisa |
