I've known several people with lots of money, BMWs, etc. who were so sadly empty on the inside. When God promises prosperity it is a spiritual blessing that cannot be bought, worked for, or earned. I believe that contemporary worship lost its appeal to me at the time contemporary Christian songs did... when I realized that they are not worshiping God most of the time, but rather the worshiper and what surrounds the worshiper.
