Would you like to make history? Would you like to change your world? These ten boys grew up and did just that! Find out how Samuel Rutherford showed people that love works better than fear; Johnathan Edwards helped the Iroquois Indians and then was asked to teach at Princeton; Gorege Whitefield preached the Salvation to thousands and saved the lives of children; Robert Murray McCheyne lost his brother but found Jesus; D.L. Moody sold shoes in a shop and then taught childrenk in a caravan; Billy played proffessional baseballl and then preached the gospel; Charles Spurgeon became a Christian in a snowstorm and then told the world about Jesus; A.W. Tozer rescued orphan lambs and then he was saved by Jesus; Martyn Lloyd Jones became a doctor but found a better medicine for souls.

Catch the Vision – John J Murray – (a couple chapters on Lloyd-Jones)

346679: Catch The Vision: The Roots Of The Reformed Recovery-The Men And Movements In The Mid 20th Century Catch The Vision: The Roots Of The Reformed Recovery-The Men And Movements In The Mid 20th Century

By John J. Murray / Evangelical Press

It is the belief of the author that a significant change came about in the history of the church in the United Kingdom in the middle decades of the 20th century. It was by and large a recovery of something that had been a reality in the church in past generations. Step by step men were led to see what was missing in the type of Christianity that prevailed for the first half of the century and began to direct their minds back to the glories of past eras.It is instructive to trace the various strands which were woven together in the providence of God to bring about the recovery. In most cases it was the discovery of some treasure of Christian literature from a spiritually-favoured age that set the person on the course he took. We find in the unfolding of history how the flame that burned in the heart of a man of God at one time is years later re-kindled in another—as happened in the case of George Whitefield being directed to Scougal’s Life of God in the Soul of Man, and in the life of the young C. H. Spurgeon to the writings of the Puritans.

The purpose of this work is to trace these providential links in the men and in the books that set in motion a recovery of the vision—looking at figures such as W. J. Grier, A. W. Pink and E. J. Poole-Connor. The central place is given to the influences that shaped the message and ministry of the leading figure in the recovery, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

Wow, I didn’t realize I am so behind in posting here. Sorry.

Life is what it is. God is not only good, He is awesome. We had a great worship time today, and great sermon on the glory of God.

I’ve added some Sermon feeds to the bottom of the page.

Enjoy!

I discuss with others much about the socialism of our civil government that ought not be so, and where charity, care for the poor should come from – the church, both individual bodies and congregational bodies, to care for the poor both within and outside of the Body. “Spreading the wealth” through forced collectivism never works. Only voluntary giving will truly solve our problems. That requires Christian character, or just plain ol’ fashioned morals and ethics, the foundation that is necessary to get our nation back where it needs to be. (Did we really the the Me generation would lead to anything else than it has in our nation?)

Jim Eliff shares how his church is doing what should be done for the members of their own body.

As the economy worsens, most churches need to think through the pain of its members. Do you have a responsibility for those in the church? What will you do? The answers to this problem are varied.

I received this update today on the Gospel of John Project I wrote about a couple weeks ago. I am so happy the goal has been reached for the Gospel of John for Philadelphia outreach. The goal was 10,000+ copies, and well over 11,000 have been sponsored so far. They are currently at the printer. Please pray that these Scriptures will reach the hands and the hearts of those God is preparing to receive them. That they would read God’s Word, He would bring understanding, and they would respond with faith and repentance. “His Word will not return void.”

UPDATE: 12,000 booklets for this campaign are currently being PRINTED! At this stage, all graphics have been handed over to the Trinitarian Bible Society for review and printing. After that, it will be off to the mailers!

As always, to keep up-to-date with our latest progress, please visit:

Your financial support has made it possible for us to reach this stage. We are very appreciative of your help.

But please remember to continue to pray for genuine fruit from this effort. Our responsibility is certainly to sow the seed but we must realize that ‘salvation is of the Lord.’  We humbly ask that you pray that these booklets will reach the right homes to do the most good in helping broken lives and directing families to visit good, local churches.

How does God want us to deal with the past in counseling? Should we get all hung up on it? Was Freud right? Or have Christians just adopted pagan practices in much of their “counseling”? Read this article for a simple explanation of good common, biblical sense in counseling relating to your “past”.

“NC deal with the past only when it is actually present.”

When the wicked bear rule, the people mourn. ~ Proverbs 29:2

We mourn as our nation continues to slide further from the God fearing foundations we had, as socialism marches on, and we lose our liberties to the licentious.

But the wicked do not control. Today’s Proverb gives us true perspective.

The king’ heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. ~ Proverbs 21:1

Our country is reaping what it has sown. God has given it over to its wickedness. But He remains the Sovereign One, in control of all, Who will do what He does for His own glory. We can trust in His faithfulness to His own.

I was made aware last week that 2009 is the 200th birthday of Darwin, and the 150th anniversary of Origins of the Species. “Atheists are planning worldwide celebrations.”

I had become aware several months ago that 2009 is the 500th birthday of John Calvin. Christian believers worldwide are planning their own celebration.

Both men were highly influential to our nation. Calvin set forth the biblical foundations that our nation was founded and built on. Darwin the ideas that are instrumental in the destruction of our nation today.

I think I’ll stick with my reading of Calvin‘s positive influence.
