I received this update today on the Gospel of John Project I wrote about a couple weeks ago. I am so happy the goal has been reached for the Gospel of John for Philadelphia outreach. The goal was 10,000+ copies, and well over 11,000 have been sponsored so far. They are currently at the printer. Please pray that these Scriptures will reach the hands and the hearts of those God is preparing to receive them. That they would read God’s Word, He would bring understanding, and they would respond with faith and repentance. “His Word will not return void.”

UPDATE: 12,000 booklets for this campaign are currently being PRINTED! At this stage, all graphics have been handed over to the Trinitarian Bible Society for review and printing. After that, it will be off to the mailers!

How does God want us to deal with the past in counseling? Should we get all hung up on it? Was Freud right? Or have Christians just adopted pagan practices in much of their “counseling”? Christianity demands of us both love and truth. Listen to this expounded from Romans 9.

Are you ready for Romans 9? Some portions of the Bible are more difficult to understand or accept than others. The Apostle Peter acknowledged that Paul’s letters “contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction” (2 Peter 3:16). Which of Paul’s letters did Peter have in mind? Probably Romans, and possibly Romans 9-11.

Romans 9 “makes men submissive to God.”

gospelofjohn_philly2009The Gospel of John Project is a new outreach endeavor where the ultimate goal is to PRINT, MAIL and DELIVER as many copies of the Gospel of John as possible directly to homes in every major city across America. The current project goal is at least 10,000 copies of the Gospel of John delivered to Philadelphia, PA. You can help spread God’s Word by giving to The Gospel of John Project, in partnership with SermonAudio and Trinitarian Bible Society.

The Gospel of John has been used more frequently than any other to bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ; it was written for that purpose. It is our hope that many hurting homes and broken lives will be helped by the message of this incredible book. The promise of Scripture is that the Word of God “shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isa. 55:11). Saturday Psalm & Praise

One of my favorite Psalms of reassurance that God, and not the wicked, is in control is Psalm 2. Here is it in versification from The Psalms of David in Metre.

Why rage the heathen? and vain things
Why do the people mind?
Kings of the earth do set themselves
And princes are combined

To plot against the Lord and His
Anointed, saying thus,
Let us asunder break their bands,
And cast their cords from us.

He that in heaven sits, shall laugh;
The Lord shall scorn them all.
Then shall He speak to them in wrath,
In rage He vex them shall.

Yet, not withstanding, I have Him
To be my King appointed;
And o’er Zion, my Holy hill,
I have Him King anointed.

I sure decree I will declare
The Lord hath said to me,
Thou art mine only Son: this day
I have begotten thee.

Ask of for me a heritage
The heathen I’ll make thine;
And, for possession, I to thee
Will give earth’s utmost line.

Thou shalt, as with a weighty rod
Of iron, break them all;
And as  potter’s sherd, Thou shalt
Them dash in pieces small.

Now, therefore, kings, be wise; be taught,
Ye judges of the earth:
Serve God in fear, and see that ye
Join trembling with your mirth.

Kiss ye the Son, lest in His ire
Ye perish from the way,
If once his wrath begin to burn:
Bless’d all that on Him stay.

“Life has great anguish, great grief, deep heartache, for Christians and non-Christians alike. … There are times when even committed believers feel like they can’t go on. They want to give up, to throw in the towel. … David was experiencing some of these feelings when he wrote the contemplative psalm we call Psalm 55.”

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 4:12-13

This sermon is appropriate for this week as our Bible reading schedule begins the book of Job tomorrow.

Life is full of trials, but our God is faithful to His own, to love and uphold them that trust in Him.
