“We must not make natural infirmity an excuse for sin, but we must fly to the cross and pray the Lord to crucify our tempers, and renew us in gentleness and meekness after His own image.”

Excerpt from CH Spurgeon, Morning and Evening, July 13 a.m.

I read from an actual book, but you can find them online here or as part of MacSword (M&E module) and E-Sword (M&E module) for use on your computer.

“May your convictions be deep your love real, your desires earnest. May your whole life be so settled and established, that all the blasts of hell, and all the storms of earth shall never be able to remove you. But notice how this blessed of being “stablished in the faith” is gained. The apostle’s words point us to suffering as the means employed – ….”

Excerpt from CH Spurgeon, Morning and Evening, July 11 a.m.

“Family religion is necessary for the nation, for the family itself, and for the church of God. … Would that parents would awaken to a sense of the importance of this matter.”

“Ought we not to look upon our own history as being at least as full of God, as full of His goodness and of His truth, as much a proof of His faithfulness and veracity, as the lives of any of the saints who have gone before?”

"Lord …. Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold thy glory.

"Let me learn by paradox …"

Excerpt from Valley of Vision

I read an actual book, but you can read online daily here and all here.

A new series at Sermon Audio, which you may already know is one of my favorite places to find good things to listen to, caught my eye. It’s from the 2007 John Bunyan Conference.

Titles of the 6 sessions are:

Scottish Covenanters 1, 2, and 3.

The Beginnings of the British Reformation

Thomas Cranmer, Early Light of Reformation

Rediscovering the Puritans

I’ve only listened to a couple of sessions so far, but I’m really enjoying them. But it’s time to hit the sack and plug in for another one.

Also, please take a minute to jump over to my L.E.D. blog for an important message about a very special event this week.

Do you know the difference between folk, popular, and classical music? Find some insight in an article called Style and Substance at Let’s Learn Theology.

This is excellent for a more general look at The Effect of Music on Life. Plenty more links to share on another day.

For today I’ll just exhort, may our worship/ music always truly glorify and exalt our Lord God and Savior.

I just ran across a website yesterday that looks like it will be a good resource for us to supplement our hymn studies, Songs and Hymns.org. I wrote more about it and about our hymn studies on our Lifestyle Education through Discipleship blog today.

Welcome to our new Clear Vision blog. Beginning today all our spiritual growth posts will be made to this blog. See all prior posts that haven’t been moved here yet at our old blog page. All previous posts have been moved here, no need to go to the old blog page at all. Now I just have to work at getting this one “prettied up”. Thanks for your patience.
